Urdu is the National Language of Pakistan and reflects its remarkable and rich historical and cultural heritage. Besides it is spoken by 700 million people around the globe and second among most spoken language groups in the world. Because of the strategic importance of Pakistan, this language has become the focus of attention of the international community and the number of people seeking to learn Urdu is increasing day by day. In this context, Department of Urdu, International Islamic University has designed a wide variety of programs and determined to enhance the standard of the teaching of Urdu language and Literature and expand its programs in compliance with the need of time. For the purpose, the Department offers following Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctoral programs.

Graduate and Post Graduate Programs

BS (Male/Female)
Duration: 4 Years

Prerequisites:
Intermediate /HSSC with at least 45% marks or CGPA 02.00 12 Years of Education from any other country and Diploma in Urdu / Functional knowledge of Urdu At Least 50% marks in Admission Test of IIU.
MA (Male/Female)

Duration: 2Years

Prerequisites:

BA /B.Sc. from Pakistan (14 Years of Education) with at least 45% marks or CGPA 02.00 Graduation from any other country and Diploma in Urdu/ Sufficient knowledge of Urdu At Least 50% marks in Admission Test of IIU.
Research Programs

MS (Male/Female)

Duration: 2 Years

Prerequisites:

MA Urdu / BS Urdu 4 Years (16 years of education with at least 50% marks in annual system or CGPA 2.5 in semester system. At Least 60% marks in Admission Test of IIU.

PhD (Male/Female)

Duration: 3-4 Years

Prerequisites:
MS Urdu with at least 60% marks in annual system or CGPA 3.0 in semester system. At Least 70% marks in Admission Test of IIU
